I've defended the Z32TT as one of the greatest cars ever made since I've owned one. I don't mean to bash the 300zx, it will always be my favorite car of all time, just not at the track. This weekend I was the slowest car on the track. I put over 100 laps in and continued to get walked by slower cars. Driving was not the issue, it was gearing, power and suspension. The average speed on the straights were 145mph --an enclave broke 120mph, I had a rough time breaking 110mph with 12psi of boost and weighing slightly over 3000lbs. Boost was consistent and I was putting down allot of power. It's a completely stripped dedicated track car that was being violated by family sedans like Jettas and an Enclave. This surprised me quite a bit. I was hitting corners hard enough to drop oil 5-10 psi on the oil pressure gauge @ 5 qts while still getting passed by everything out there. This was a huge embarrassment. The go-pro footage I saw from other vehicles looked as if I was taking corners at 10mph when they walked around me, yet in the car I felt as if I was doing 100mph, all 4 tires smoking, oil pressure dropping and I was fighting some major under steer. Alignment was Zeroed out on the toe, front camber was -1.5, caster was 9, but the tires were shot after the weekend. I spent all night trying to figure out why the car would not handle. Eventually I was kicked off the track for spraying too much oil and getting in the way. I decided I had enough of the car and returned later with my 350z track edition. The difference was upsetting. Instead of getting lapped and the finger from vetts and vipers, I found myself keeping up through most of the turns, passing others like they were in golf carts. I find myself still wanting to keep the Z32 as a track car, but I'm unsure on where to proceed with this. Even though my Z33 has more body roll, it was just simply faster in every way. I've always hated Z33's, everybody has them, but after all of the time and money I've put into my Z32tt, I am just simply upset with its performance at high speeds. I do feel a 4.10 rear end would greatly help in the straights and corners, but the car feels as if its 5000+lbs in the corners. Anybody else have any similar track experience with their Z?
